Yes — Class L fuses are standardized by ANSI/UL 248-10, so the Gould A4BY1600 (1600A, 600V, 200kA) is physically and electrically interchangeable with other ANSI Class L fuses of the same rating, such as the Bussmann KRP-C-1600SP or Mersen A4BY1600, provided they share the same ampere and voltage rating. Always verify the replacement meets or exceeds the interrupting rating required by your application.

The time-delay characteristic allows the fuse to ride through the high inrush currents typical of large motor starts or transformer energization — often 6–10× full-load current for several seconds — without nuisance opening, while still providing fast, reliable clearing during genuine short-circuit fault conditions.
