A4J30 – GOULD 30A 600V FAST ACTING FUSE

The A4J30 is a Class J fuse, which requires a Class J-rated fuse holder or fused disconnect rated for 600V. Class J fuses have a specific blade/ferrule geometry that prevents them from being installed in non-Class-J holders, ensuring the correct protection level is maintained.

Gould fuses (later branded Ferraz Shawmut) can be hard to source as new stock, but Northern Breaker Group specialises in obsolete and hard-to-find electrical components. We can supply original Gould/Ferraz Shawmut stock where available, or identify a functionally equivalent Class J 30A 600V fast-acting replacement from Littelfuse or Eaton/Bussmann. Fast-acting Class J fuses like the A4J30 respond almost instantaneously to overcurrent conditions, making them ideal for protecting equipment that does not produce high inrush currents (e.g., resistive loads, transformers with external inrush protection, or semiconductor circuits). Time-delay Class J fuses are better suited for motor circuits, which draw high inrush current on start-up. If you're replacing an existing fuse, match the type (fast-acting vs. time-delay) indicated on your equipment's nameplate or drawings.
