The Gould AJT400 is a 400A, 600V, Class J time-delay fuse with a 200kA interrupting rating. Class J fuses use a rejection-style blade design, requiring a Class J-rated fuse holder or disconnect switch — they will not fit standard Class H or K holders, ensuring no accidental replacement with a lower-rated fuse.

  • Compatible holders: Any UL-listed Class J fuse holder or fusible disconnect rated ≥ 400A / 600V (e.g., Mersen/Gould JM, JTD-series holders and Eaton/Bussmann Class J blocks).
  • Cross-references: The AJT400 is directly interchangeable with Mersen AJT400, Bussmann LPJ-400SP, and other 400A Class J time-delay fuses from reputable manufacturers.

Not sure if your existing holder or disconnect is rated for this fuse? Send us your equipment details and we'll confirm compatibility.

Both are 600V Class J time-delay fuses with a 200kA interrupting rating, but the AJT series uses standard Class J dimensions, while the AJT-SP (and equivalent Bussmann LPJ-SP) features an additional rejection feature to prevent substitution with non-current-limiting fuses. For most industrial Class J holders, the AJT400 is the correct choice — contact us if you're unsure which series your equipment requires.

Yes. The AJT400's time-delay characteristic makes it well suited for protecting motors, transformers, and other loads that draw high inrush currents at start-up. The time-delay allows temporary inrush without nuisance opening, while still providing fast response to sustained overloads and short circuits up to 200kA.

The Gould brand was acquired by Mersen (formerly Ferraz Shawmut), and the AJT series continues to be produced under the Mersen name.
