Panel Compatibility

The Siemens B115 is a bolt-on style breaker from the BL series, designed for use in Siemens/ITE bolt-on loadcentres and panelboards — including compatible EQ, ES, PL, and PN series panels that accept BL/BA bolt-on breakers. It is not a plug-in (QP/QT) type and will not interchange with plug-in loadcentres. As a 1-pole 120V 15A unit with a 10kA interrupting rating, it is suited to both residential and light commercial bolt-on panel installations. Not sure if it fits your board? Send us your panel model and we'll confirm compatibility.

No, they cannot be swapped. The BL series uses a bolt-on mounting method where the breaker is physically bolted to the bus bar, while QP series breakers clip in via a plug-in connection. Each type is designed for its own specific panelboard bus configuration. Using the wrong type in a panel is unsafe and non-code-compliant. Check your panel's label or send us the model number and we'll point you to the correct breaker.

Availability of specific BL-series breakers can vary, and some variants have become difficult to source through standard supply channels. Northern Breaker Group specializes in obsolete and hard-to-find breakers — including legacy Siemens/ITE bolt-on types. Contact one of our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters or submit a quote request and we'll locate stock for you.

For most residential services and many light commercial branch circuits, a 10kA interrupting rating meets the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). However, panels closer to the utility transformer or on larger commercial services may see available fault currents exceeding 10kA, which would require a higher-rated breaker. Always verify the available fault current at your panel with your electrician or engineer before selecting a breaker.
