The Square D BDA141005 is a 1-pole, 100A, 480V, 18kA plug-in molded-case circuit breaker from Square D's BDA frame series. As an industrial/commercial-grade MCCB rated at 480V, it is designed to mount in compatible Square D panelboards and switchboards that accept BDA-frame plug-in breakers — it is not intended for residential QO or Homeline loadcentres.
Exact panelboard compatibility depends on the specific enclosure's bus configuration and frame acceptance. Send us your panelboard model and we'll confirm fitment.
No. The BDA frame is an industrial/commercial molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated at 480V and designed for panelboards and switchboards. Square D QO breakers are a completely different, smaller residential plug-in format. The BDA141005 will not physically or electrically fit a QO loadcentre.
Square D's BDA frame series is considered a legacy/obsolete line. Northern Breaker Group specializes in hard-to-find and obsolete breakers, so we maintain stock and sourcing channels for BDA-frame units. Contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters or request a quote online for current availability.
The 18kA rating is the breaker's available fault current (AFC) interrupting capacity at 480V. This means it can safely clear a short-circuit fault of up to 18,000 amperes without rupturing. You must verify that the available fault current at the point of installation does not exceed 18kA; if it does, a breaker with a higher AIC rating will be required to meet CEC safety requirements.
