The Square D BDA34045 is an I-Line plug-in breaker (BDA frame, 3-pole, 45A, 480Y/277V, 18kA) designed for use in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards — including the NQ, NF, PQ, and I-Line distribution panelboard families commonly found in commercial and industrial installations. It is not intended for residential QO or Homeline loadcentres.
Send us your panelboard model number and we'll confirm fit before you order.
No, they are not interchangeable. The BDA frame is an I-Line plug-in breaker engineered for commercial/industrial Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. QO and Homeline (HOM) breakers use entirely different mounting systems designed for residential loadcentres. Using the wrong breaker in a panel it wasn't designed for is unsafe and not code-compliant.
Square D has transitioned many BDA-frame breakers to newer product lines over the years, making certain configurations harder to source through standard channels. Northern Breaker Group specialises in obsolete and hard-to-find breakers — contact us for current stock and lead-time information.
The BDA34045 is rated for 480Y/277V at 18kA. While a breaker rated for a higher voltage can often be applied on a lower-voltage system, you must verify that the interrupting capacity (18kA) meets or exceeds the available fault current at the point of installation on your specific 208V system, and confirm with your authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Contact our team and we can help clarify the application requirements.
