The Siemens BF220 is a bolt-on style breaker from the Siemens BL/BA bolt-on series, designed to install in compatible Siemens/ITE bolt-on loadcentres and panelboards (including select EQ, ES, PL, and PN series panels that accept bolt-on breakers). It is not interchangeable with plug-in style (QP/QT) Siemens panels.

The BF220 has built-in Class A ground-fault circuit interrupter protection, tripping at 5mA of ground-fault current — the same threshold required by the Canadian Electrical Code for wet and outdoor locations. Because protection is provided at the breaker level, every outlet and device on that circuit is GFCI-protected, so you do not need additional GFCI receptacles on the same circuit.
Yes — the BF220 is a 2-pole, 240V, 20A GFCI breaker specifically suited for hot tub, spa, and similar wet-area 240V circuits. The CEC (Rule 68) requires GFCI protection within 3 metres of a spa or hot tub, making this breaker a compliant and popular choice for those applications. Always verify your hot tub's nameplate ampacity and wiring requirements before installation.
