The BQL series uses a bolt-on mounting method, where the breaker is physically bolted to the bus bar — unlike BR or CH series breakers which use a clip-in plug-on connection. Bolt-on breakers provide a more secure mechanical and electrical connection, commonly required in commercial panelboards or panels specifically designed for bolt-on hardware. They are not interchangeable with plug-in style breakers.
The BQL230 may serve as a direct or compatible replacement for certain legacy Eaton/Cutler-Hammer bolt-on breakers of the same rating (2P, 30A, 240V, 10kA AIC), provided your panel is approved for the BQL series.
