NMD90 (Non-Metallic Dry, 90 °C) is a CSA-approved cable type widely used in Canadian residential and light commercial construction. It is approved for concealed dry locations such as within walls, ceilings, and floors. It is not rated for outdoor direct burial, damp, or wet locations — for those applications a different cable type (e.g., NMWU or TECK) would be required.
Per the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), 14 AWG copper conductors must be protected by a maximum 15-ampere overcurrent device (circuit breaker or fuse). Using a 20 A breaker on 14 AWG wiring is a code violation. If your circuit demands 20 A, you would need to upgrade to 12/2 NMD90 cable instead.
A 150-metre (approximately 492-foot) roll is well suited for larger wiring runs or multiple circuits in a new build or renovation. As a rough guide, a standard residential bedroom circuit might use 15–25 metres of cable, so this roll can comfortably supply several circuits. Always account for extra length for routing, stapling, and connections at each device box.
