The EGB14020 is purpose-rated for these branch circuits, making it a common choice for lighting panel applications.
The 35kA interrupting capacity means the EGB14020 can safely clear a fault current of up to 35,000 amperes without catastrophic failure. You must verify that the available short-circuit current (ASCC) at your panelboard does not exceed 35kA — your electrical engineer or utility can confirm this. Installing a breaker with an insufficient interrupting rating is a code violation under the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
The Square D EGB frame series has been superseded by newer MCCB lines, making genuine EGB14020 units increasingly hard to source through standard channels.
