The 65kA rating is the breaker's short-circuit interrupting capacity — meaning it can safely clear a fault up to 65,000 amps at 480V without catastrophic failure. You must verify that this rating meets or exceeds the available fault current (AFC) at the point of installation, as required by the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). If your panel's AFC is lower, a lower-rated (and often less expensive) breaker may suffice, but you must never install a breaker with an interrupting rating below the AFC.
