The Square D FA36045 is an FA-frame, I-Line plug-in molded-case circuit breaker rated 45A, 3-Pole, 600V, 14kA. As an I-Line breaker, it is designed to plug into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards — commercial and industrial enclosures that accept the I-Line bus system — not residential QO or Homeline loadcentres. It is not interchangeable with bolt-on or standard plug-on residential breakers.
FA-frame I-Line breakers are commonly used in Square D NF, NQ, PQ, and I-Line panelboards, as well as certain switchboard sections. Send us your panelboard model number and we'll confirm exact fitment.
No. The FA36045 uses Square D's I-Line plug-in connection system, which is designed for commercial/industrial I-Line panelboards and switchboards. QO breakers use a completely different plug-on bus connection and fit QO loadcentres only. The two systems are not interchangeable.
Square D's FA-frame I-Line lineup has seen product transitions over the years, and certain catalogue numbers can become difficult to source through regular distribution channels. Northern Breaker Group specialises in obsolete and hard-to-find breakers — contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counter for current stock availability and lead times.
The 14kA rating is the breaker's short-circuit interrupting capacity — the maximum fault current it can safely clear at 600V. For many commercial distribution panels this is adequate, but higher-fault-current locations (closer to a utility transformer or in larger switchboards) may require a higher AIC-rated device. Check the available fault current at your panel's bus with your engineer or electrician, and contact us if you need an FA-frame breaker with a higher interrupting rating.
