The Square D FH36020 is an I-Line plug-in style molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the FH frame — rated 3-pole, 20A, 600V AC, 18kA interrupting capacity. I-Line breakers are designed to plug into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards (such as the NF, NQ, and I-Line series), making them suited for commercial and industrial distribution — not residential loadcentres. They are not compatible with QO or Homeline consumer panels.
Panel compatibility depends on the specific I-Line panelboard model and busway configuration in your installation. Send us your panelboard model number and we'll confirm fit before you order.
The FH36020 uses Square D's I-Line plug-in bus system, which is compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards (such as NF and NQ series). It is not interchangeable with QO or Homeline residential loadcentres. Send us your panelboard model and we'll confirm compatibility.
The FH-frame I-Line series has been superseded by newer Square D MCCB lines in many applications. Northern Breaker Group specialises in obsolete and hard-to-find breakers, so we can often source the FH36020 new, reconditioned, or surplus. Contact us or visit one of our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters for current availability.
No — you should never replace a breaker with one of a lower interrupting rating than what the system's available fault current requires. The FH36020 is rated 18kA at 600V. If your system's available short-circuit current exceeds 18kA, you'll need a higher-rated frame. We recommend consulting your panel schedule or a licensed electrician, and we're happy to help identify the correct replacement.
