Panel & Switchboard Compatibility

The Square D FH36070 is an I-Line plug-in molded-case circuit breaker (FH frame, 3P, 70A, 600V, 18kA AIR). I-Line breakers are designed to mount in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards — such as the NF, NQ, and I-Line series — and are not interchangeable with QO or Homeline residential loadcentres. Verify that your panelboard accepts FH-frame plug-in I-Line devices before ordering. Send us your panelboard model number and we'll confirm fitment.

The FH36070 uses Square D's I-Line plug-in mounting system, making it compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards designed for that bus system (e.g., NF and NQ series). It is not suitable for QO or Homeline residential loadcentres. If you're unsure whether your panel accepts I-Line FH-frame breakers, send us your panelboard model and we'll confirm.

Availability can vary as Square D periodically updates its MCCB product lines. Northern Breaker Group specializes in obsolete and hard-to-find breakers, so even if the FH36070 is no longer in current production, we can often source new-old-stock or factory-refurbished units. Contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters for current stock and lead times.

The 18kA rating is the breaker's short-circuit interrupting capacity at 600V — meaning it can safely clear fault currents up to 18,000 amps. Per Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), your breaker's interrupting rating must meet or exceed the available fault current at the point of installation. If your system's available fault current exceeds 18kA, you would need an FH-frame breaker with a higher interrupting rating. A qualified electrician or engineer can perform a short-circuit study to confirm suitability.
