The Eaton GFTCB115 is a plug-in GFCI breaker from the GFTCB series, designed for use in compatible Eaton BR (Type-BR) loadcentres and panelboards. Its push-in "plug-on" style is suited to residential panels accepting standard BR-footprint breakers. It provides 5mA ground fault protection on a dedicated 1-pole, 15A, 120V circuit — meeting code requirements for wet-area circuits (bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoor outlets, etc.).

The CEC requires GFCI protection (Class A, 5mA trip threshold) in many locations, including bathrooms, kitchens, garages, unfinished basements, outdoor circuits, and areas near pools or hot tubs. The GFTCB115 meets the 5mA Class A requirement and is well-suited for protecting these circuits in residential installations.
A GFCI breaker installed in your panel protects every outlet and device on that entire circuit, whereas a GFCI receptacle only protects itself and any outlets wired downstream from it. The GFTCB115 is the preferred solution when you need whole-circuit protection or when a GFCI receptacle cannot be conveniently located (e.g., on a dedicated appliance circuit).
Nuisance tripping on a GFCI breaker is usually caused by a genuine ground fault on the circuit (wiring issue, damaged appliance, or moisture ingress), rather than a defective breaker. Before assuming the unit is faulty, isolate each load on the circuit one at a time. If the breaker trips with nothing plugged in, there may be a wiring issue worth investigating. If you suspect the breaker itself is defective, Northern Breaker Group can help source a direct replacement — contact us for availability.
