The Gould J636 is a fuse reducer rated 60A to 30A at 600V, designed to adapt a standard 60A fuse holder or fusible disconnect to accept a smaller 30A fuse — effectively providing a built-in current limitation at the fuse block level. It is compatible with 60A Class H/K fuse holders and fusible safety switches that accept a standard 60A fuse clip configuration.

  • Input (holder side): 60A fuse clip/holder
  • Output (fuse side): accepts up to 30A fuse
  • Voltage rating: 600V AC

Not sure if the J636 fits your existing fuse block or disconnect? Send us your holder or switch model and we'll confirm compatibility.

The J636 adapter inserts into a 60A-rated fuse holder or fusible disconnect and reduces the accepted fuse size down to 30A. This lets you protect a smaller circuit or load without replacing the entire fuse block or disconnect enclosure — a cost-effective solution for retrofits and load changes.

Gould's fuse product lines have transitioned through several owners over the years. If the J636 is no longer in current production, Northern Breaker Group specialises in sourcing obsolete and hard-to-find electrical components. Contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters and we'll check our stock and supplier network for you.

The J636 is designed for use with standard cartridge-type fuses up to 30A, 600V. You should always match the fuse class (e.g., Class H, K, or RK as appropriate) to your circuit's protection requirements and ensure the fuse is rated for the available fault current. Consult the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and your AHJ if you're unsure which fuse class is required for your application.
