The Square D JGA36175 is a JGA-frame moulded-case circuit breaker (3-pole, 175 A, 600 V, 18 kA) in the I-Line plug-in format. It is designed to mount in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards that accept the JGA/JGL/JGF frame — commercial and industrial distribution equipment, not residential loadcentres. It is not interchangeable with QO or Homeline residential breakers.
Not sure if this breaker fits your board? Send us your panelboard model and we'll confirm compatibility.
No. The JGA36175 uses Square D's I-Line plug-in mounting system, where the breaker clips directly onto a dedicated I-Line bus. It is not compatible with bolt-on or QO/Homeline-style panelboards. Your enclosure must specifically be rated for I-Line plug-in breakers of the JGA frame to accept this unit. Check your panelboard nameplate or contact us with the model number and we'll verify the fit.
Square D JGA-frame I-Line breakers can be difficult to locate through standard distribution channels, particularly in specific amp ratings like 175 A. Northern Breaker Group specialises in hard-to-find and obsolete breakers and maintains stock of legacy Square D I-Line product. Contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters or submit a quote request and we'll advise on availability.
It depends on the available fault current at the point of installation. An 18 kA interrupting rating (IR) is suitable for many downstream commercial and light-industrial applications, but larger services or locations close to utility transformers can exceed this level. You must verify the available short-circuit current at the breaker's line terminals against the 18 kA IR. If your fault current is higher, a higher-interrupting-capacity JGA-frame variant may be required — our team can help you select the correct unit to meet CEC requirements.
