The MGA36300 is a Square D MGA-frame, I-Line plug-in molded-case circuit breaker rated 300 A, 3-pole, 600 V AC, 18 kA interrupting capacity. As an I-Line breaker, it is designed to mount in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards (such as the NQ, NF, PQ, and I-Line distribution sections) — not in residential loadcentres. It is suited for commercial and industrial applications including motor branch circuits, feeder protection, and distribution panels.
Panel compatibility depends on your specific switchboard or panelboard model and bus rating. Send us your panel model and we'll confirm fitment.
No. The MGA36300 uses Square D's I-Line plug-in mounting system, which is specific to I-Line rated panelboards and switchboards. It is not compatible with QO loadcentres or Homeline panels, which use a different bus and breaker interface. Using an I-Line breaker in a non-I-Line panel is unsafe and not code-compliant.
The MGA-frame series has been largely superseded by newer Square D MCCB families. The MGA36300 can be difficult to source through standard supply channels, which is exactly the type of hard-to-find breaker Northern Breaker Group specialises in. Contact us for current availability — we serve customers across Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
It depends on the available fault current at the point of installation. At 600 V in commercial and industrial settings, available short-circuit current can exceed 18 kA at the service entrance or on larger distribution buses. An arc-flash and short-circuit study should be performed to confirm the breaker's 18 kA rating is adequate for your specific location in the system. If higher interrupting capacity is required, we can help source an alternative MGA-frame or compatible replacement with a higher kA rating.
