The Gould NRS50 is a Class K5, one-time fuse rated 50A at 600V with a 10kA interrupting rating. It fits standard Class K5-compatible fuse holders and fusible disconnects designed for 600V, 50A service — commonly used in industrial branch-circuit and feeder protection applications. As a one-time fuse, it must be replaced after any overcurrent event; upgrading to a time-delay (Class RK1/RK5) fuse in the same holder is often considered for motor loads. Send us your holder or disconnect model and we'll confirm fit.
The Gould NRS series has been succeeded by Ferraz Shawmut (now Mersen) and other manufacturers' Class K5 one-time fuses of the same 50A/600V rating. Direct form-fit-function replacements are available — contact our team and we'll match the correct equivalent for your application.
Yes — Class RK1 and RK5 fuses are dimensionally interchangeable with Class K5 holders (they share the same physical envelope), and they offer a higher 200kA interrupting rating plus better current-limiting performance. If your holder accepts rejection-style fuses, upgrading to a Class RK5 time-delay or RK1 fuse is a common and code-acceptable improvement.
The NRS50 is a one-time (non-time-delay) fuse, which means it can nuisance-trip on motor inrush current. For motor branch-circuit protection per the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), a time-delay fuse (Class RK5 or equivalent) is generally recommended. The NRS50 is better suited for transformer primaries, feeder protection, or non-motor loads at 50A/600V.
