A Class K5 one-time fuse (like the NRS90) provides fast-acting, non-renewable protection — once it blows, it must be replaced. A time-delay (dual-element) fuse tolerates short-duration motor starting surges without blowing. Swapping depends entirely on your holder type: Class K5 fuses are non-rejection and fit holders designed for K5 or non-rejection classes. Always verify your holder's class rating before substituting a different fuse type.
The 10kA interrupting rating means the NRS90 is designed to safely clear fault currents up to 10,000 amperes at 600V without rupturing or causing a hazard. For installations where available short-circuit current exceeds 10kA, a higher-rated fuse class (such as Class RK1, rated up to 200kA) would be required to meet Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements.
