The Siemens Bulldog Pushmatic P240 is a 2-pole, 40A, 240V push-in (Pushmatic) breaker designed to fit legacy Bulldog Pushmatic loadcentres and panelboards. These panels use a unique push-to-reset mechanism — standard QP/ITE plug-on breakers are not interchangeable with Pushmatic breakers, and vice versa. The P240 is suited for 240V double-pole branch circuits such as dryers, ranges, A/C units, and water heaters in residential and light commercial settings.
Bulldog Pushmatic panels are a discontinued legacy product line, making compatible breakers increasingly hard to source. Send us your panel model and we'll confirm fitment — our team specialises in exactly these obsolete and hard-to-find breakers.
Bulldog Pushmatic breakers, including the P240, are no longer in production — the line has been discontinued for decades. However, Northern Breaker Group specialises in sourcing obsolete and hard-to-find breakers like these. We maintain inventory of Pushmatic units for exactly this reason. Contact us or visit one of our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters for availability.
No — Bulldog Pushmatic breakers use a proprietary push-in bus bar engagement system that is completely different from modern Siemens QP plug-on breakers. The two types are not interchangeable. If your Pushmatic panel requires a new breaker, you must use an original Pushmatic-compatible unit like the P240, or consider a full panel replacement. We can help advise on both options.
For most residential services and many light commercial applications in Canada, a 10,000A (10kA) interrupting capacity meets the requirements of CSA C22.1 (Canadian Electrical Code). However, if your service is fed from a transformer with a high available fault current — common in some commercial settings — a higher AIC rating may be required. If you're unsure, consult your electrical engineer or inspector, and we're happy to help identify the right breaker for your installation.
