Panel Compatibility

The Square D QO120 is a QO-series plug-in breaker designed to fit Square D QO loadcentres and panelboards. Its distinctive Visi-Trip indicator and plug-on design are exclusive to the QO line — it is not interchangeable with Square D Homeline or other manufacturers' panels. The QO120 is rated 1-pole, 20 A, 120 V, 10 kA interrupting capacity, suitable for standard residential branch circuits.

Not sure if your panel is QO-compatible? Send us your panel model number and we'll confirm the right fit.

While both are Square D 1-pole 20 A breakers, the QO120 is part of the premium QO series and is only compatible with QO loadcentres — it features Square D's signature Visi-Trip indicator that clearly shows when a breaker has tripped. The HOM120 is designed exclusively for Square D Homeline panels. The two series are not interchangeable, so it's important to match the breaker to your specific panel line.

The QO120 remains an active Square D product and is not discontinued. Northern Breaker Group stocks both new and verified reconditioned units, making it straightforward to source even if local supply is limited. Contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters for current availability.

Yes — the QO120 is well suited for 120 V, 20 A branch circuits commonly required for kitchen appliance outlets and bathroom receptacle circuits under the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). Always ensure the circuit wiring is rated for 20 A (12 AWG minimum) and that any GFCI or AFCI requirements for the specific location are addressed, either with a GFCI/AFCI receptacle or by upgrading to a QO120DF or similar combination breaker.
