Panel Compatibility

The Square D QO120GFI is a plug-in (push-in) QO-series breaker, designed to fit Square D QO loadcentres and QO-style panelboards. It is not compatible with Square D Homeline panels, which use a different bus design. As a 1-pole, 120V GFCI breaker, it is suited for branch circuits in residential and light commercial QO panels requiring ground fault protection at the 5mA trip threshold.

Have a specific panel model? Send us your panel model and we'll confirm compatibility.

The QO120GFI includes built-in Class A GFCI protection with a 5mA ground fault trip threshold, which a standard QO120 breaker does not provide. This means the QO120GFI protects against ground faults that could cause electric shock — required by Canadian Electrical Code in locations such as bathrooms, kitchens, garages, and outdoor circuits — while still providing standard overcurrent protection at 20A.

The QO-series breaker line has maintained a consistent plug-in bus design over many decades, so the QO120GFI is generally compatible with both older and newer Square D QO loadcentres. However, panel condition, bus integrity, and any local code requirements can affect suitability. We recommend confirming your panel model with our team before ordering — contact your nearest Northern Breaker Group counter in Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver.

Yes. Like most GFCI circuit breakers, the QO120GFI requires a connection to the panel's neutral bar via its included pigtail wire to monitor current imbalance and provide ground fault protection. This is in addition to the standard load wire connections. Ensure your QO loadcentre has an available neutral bar lug when planning your installation.
