Panel Compatibility

The Square D QO235 is a QO-frame plug-in breaker designed to fit Square D QO loadcentres and panelboards — the series identified by the distinctive "Qwik-Open" 10kA rejection clip. It is not compatible with Square D Homeline panels, which use a different bus design. At 2-pole / 35A / 120/240V, it is well suited for branch circuits such as dryers, workshop subpanels, and larger appliance feeds in residential and light-commercial QO enclosures.

Not sure if your panel takes QO breakers? Send us your panel model number and we'll confirm the fit.

No, they are not interchangeable. The QO235 uses Square D's QO plug-in bus design with the signature rejection clip, while Homeline breakers use a different clip and bus tab profile. Installing a Homeline breaker in a QO panel (or vice versa) is unsafe and code non-compliant. Always match the breaker series to your panel series.

The QO235 is an active Square D part. Northern Breaker Group stocks a wide range of QO-series breakers across our Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver locations. If you need a replacement quickly, contact us for availability — we specialize in both current and hard-to-find breakers and can often supply same-day or next-day at the counter.

For a 35A circuit under the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), the typical minimum conductor size is #8 AWG copper (or #6 AWG aluminum) for a 75°C-rated wire. Always verify conductor sizing with a licensed electrician, as conduit fill, ambient temperature, and load type can affect the required wire gauge. The QO235 terminal is rated for this range, but confirm your specific installation requirements with your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
