The QOU series is Square D's bolt-on / DIN rail breaker line, whereas the standard QO series uses a plug-on (snap-in) connection to the bus. The QOU290 physically attaches via bolt-on lugs and can also mount on a DIN rail, making it better suited for panelboards, enclosures, or applications where a more secure mechanical connection is required. Always verify your panelboard accepts bolt-on style breakers before ordering.
The QOU290 is a 90A 2-pole breaker that can serve as either a main disconnect or a large branch/feeder breaker, depending on your panel's design and local electrical code requirements.
