The Gould TRS50R is a Class RK5, 50A 250V time-delay fuse with a 200kA interrupting rating, designed to fit any Class RK5- or Class RK1-rated fuse holder or fusible disconnect — RK5 fuses are accepted in holders labelled RK1, RK5, or the broader Class R category. Common compatible holders include Gould/Ferraz Shawmut and Eaton/Bussmann Class R fuse blocks and fusible switches rated 250V, 60A or higher. Direct cross-reference replacements include the Bussmann FRS-R-50 and Littelfuse FLRS-50 (both Class RK5, 50A 250V time-delay). Contact us with your holder or disconnect model and we'll confirm the right fit.
Class RK5 and RK1 fuses share the same physical dimensions and both fit Class R holders, but they differ in performance. RK1 fuses have tighter current-limiting characteristics than RK5. The TRS50R (Class RK5) can physically fit an RK1-rated holder, but it should NOT be used as a direct replacement for a Class RK1 fuse if the application specifically requires RK1-level current limitation. Check your equipment documentation or contact us to confirm the correct class for your application.
The time-delay characteristic allows the TRS50R to tolerate short-duration inrush currents — such as motor starting surges or transformer magnetising inrush — without nuisance blowing, while still opening quickly under sustained overloads or short-circuit conditions. This makes it well suited for protecting motors, transformers, and other inductive loads in industrial and commercial installations.
The Gould TRS series has transitioned through Ferraz Shawmut and is now carried under the Mersen brand. Northern Breaker Group specialises in obsolete and hard-to-find electrical components and maintains stock of legacy Gould TRS fuses. Whether you need a single replacement or a bulk quantity, contact our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver counters for availability and to request a quote.
